Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry involves a variety of aesthetic and restorative dental treatments including dental bonding, gum contouring, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, bridges, crowns, fillings and implants. Cosmetic dentistry can be performed to make the teeth more pleasing in appearance as well as rejuvenate the look of the mouth. These procedures can also be performed for functional reasons to restore the bite of the patient and improve oral hygiene.

Ideal candidates are healthy individuals suffering from misshaped, misaligned, chipped or cracked teeth. Patients who want to enhance the smile, close irregular gaps between teeth, or fix chipped, cracked, discolored or unevenly spaced teeth are also good candidates. Patients suffering from gum disease or unhealthy oral tissues are not good candidates.

The typical cost for cosmetic dentistry treatment depends on the treatment performed, the amount of teeth that need to be fixed or replaced, the complexity of the treatment, any fees charged by the doctor or the facility and if multiple treatments are performed at the same time. In general, the cost is anywhere from $1500-$9000.

In general, most cosmetic dental treatments require little to no recovery time. The aftercare routine depends on the procedure but most patients are advised to maintain proper oral hygiene and to avoid eating sticky or hard foods. Patients are also advised to brush and floss the teeth on a regular basis. The length of the results varies for each procedure but, if all instructions are followed diligently, cosmetic dentistry treatment results last for 15-20 years.
