For the past several years, one of the hottest cosmetic surgeries patients have undergone is a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). The procedure is performed to give the butt an enhanced size and shape along with an improved contour. Even though BBL surgery is still popular across the country, there are signs that the procedure is starting to lessen in popularity in the most populous city in the country, New York City.
In an interview with Page Six, Dr. Ryan Neinstein, a plastic surgeon based in New York City, told the website that female patients are ready to get the procedure reversed for a price that is around $25,000 per butt.
According to the doctor, “Interestingly a lot of [the calls we’re getting] are for patients looking to reverse surgery done elsewhere. While clothing and hairstyles are easy to experiment with new styles, in my opinion, surgery should aim for timeless beauty.” He added that his most requested procedure at the moment is the reversal of “over filled” Brazilian butt lifts.
“These women can’t walk down the street comfortable in their own skin while looking like a cartoon character. I commonly have to shrink and tighten the buttock along with sculpting adjacent areas to give a more proportionate and elegant look.”
Dr. Neinstein stated that the BBL procedures he reverses were typically performed in Colombia and South Florida. As mentioned earlier, his fee for the reversal procedure is normally around $25,000 for a “reconstructive reverse BBL.”
A Brazilian butt lift is a popular surgery that falls under the category of buttock augmentation. During a Brazilian butt lift, the surgeon works to provide the butt with a look that is larger thanks to the addition of more volume. In addition, the procedure gives the butt an improved contour and an enhanced size.
The changes to the butt are achieved by fat grafting AKA transferring fat from an area of the body that has an excess amount of fat that can be removed using liposuction. The removed fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks. Some of the areas of the body where the fat is often removed include the lower area of the back, the thighs of the patient, the hips, and the abdomen.
The final results give the patient an augmented look to the shape and size of the butt. One of the reasons patients enjoy this procedure is the fact that the desired changes can be made to the buttocks with the need for butt implants to be placed in the body.
There is also the extra benefit of the patient gaining an improved contour and shape to the area of the body where the excess fat was removed.
One of the top reasons patients want to reverse the results of their BBL is because they might feel their butt is too big after the surgery. The first thing they should do is wait three to six months before they make the final decision to have the reversal surgery. The transferred fat is often shifting and/or changing the look of the butt after the surgery so patients are often advised to wait until the fat has settled into place. In addition, waiting for that period of time reduces the chances of complications from the reversal procedure since the transferred fat will be in its final position.
If a person is still not happy with the look of their butt once the final results can be viewed, the easiest option is to perform liposuction to remove some of the fat that transferred into the buttocks. The exact amount of fat that is removed depends on the individual needs or wishes of the patient. There is normally not a desire on the part of the patient to completely return to their original appearance. Instead, they will likely want some of the fat to remain in the butt to provide an improved size and contour without the look of the butt being overly large or overfilled.
One of the most important elements of the BBL reversal process is finding a surgeon with both an artistic eye and the necessary experience to perform the procedure. It can be a bit challenging to reduce the requested amount of volume while also providing a natural and aesthetically pleasing look to the buttocks. A surgeon with an artistic eye will try to prevent the formation of any scarring after liposuction and also lessen the chance of lumps or bumps appearing on the treated area of the skin. Some surgeons also use an energy-based skin tightening device, such as BodyTite, to assist the skin in shrinking once the volume is reduced in the buttocks.
Anyone who is interested in reversing the results of their BBL should research doctors in their area who perform the treatment and then schedule a consultation appointment to discuss the procedure with the surgeon.
