Aqualyx

Aqualyx is a gel-based fat dissolving treatment where a solution is injected into the treatment area to alter the surface tension of the fat cell membrane and increase their permeability. An ultrasound device is then applied over the surface of the skin in the targeted areas causing the movement of liquids both inside and outside the fat cells. The fat cells start to balloon and break up which leads to the drainage of micro-droplets of fatty liquid into the body which is then metabolized through the lymphatic system and excreted.

Aqualyx is ideal for candidates undergoing body contouring for the first time, as well as for those who have undergone liposuction in the past and were dissatisfied with their results. Patients whose BMI is 30% of their ideal body weight for height and frame are good candidates.

The cost ranges from $500-$1500. The final cost depends on the size of the area being treated, the number of sessions needed, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure gives toned, smooth and firm looking skin. There could be slight swelling, tenderness, soreness and bruising which will resolve within a few days. Patients are advised to wear compression bandages immediately after treatment to assist the healing process. For the best results, multiple sessions are needed. The results are permanent under the condition of maintaining a consistent weight.
