Each weekday morning on ABC, the hosts of “The View” share their thoughts and opinions on a wide range of topics from politics to celebrities to their own lives. Sunny Hostin, who is a lawyer as well as a television host, recently shared the news that she had plastic surgery in summer of 2022. Keep reading to learn more about the procedures she had last year as well as the reasons why she had plastic surgery.
During her discussion about plastic surgery procedures she had least year, Hostin shared the news about her breast reduction surgery along with liposuction surgery on both her waist and her chin. The decision to have these treatments occurred after Hostin found herself crying while she was getting ready to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner in April of last year.
Hostin revealed in an interview that she started crying after realizing the Toni Maticevski gown she was going to wear to the event did not properly fit her body. “I was crying. I sat there and didn’t eat anything. I couldn’t lift my hand because my boobs were going to fall out. Bell Biv DeVoe wanted to take a picture with me. I was like, ‘Oh God, they’re going to have these pictures of my boobs hanging out.’”
She went on to add that she has felt insecure about the look of her body since she was a young girl. Hostin’s insecurity also included the fact that she had a DD bra size by the time she was sixteen years of age. Plus, Hostin was very surprised when her breasts got even larger once she gave birth to both of her children.
Sunny Hostin became part of The View back in 2016 and she has said that her body image issues became worse once she joined the show. According to the television personality, she had to wear a “minimizer bra and a sports bra or a binder all the time” when she was on the show. She needed to wear all of this due to the fact that her “top was so big.” She also had another clothing option which was getting “a very large dress” that would require her stylist to place “clips” on the back of the dress so “everything would fit” while she was on television.
Thankfully, Hostin felt much better about her look when she returned to the show two weeks after her surgical procedures last year. Hostin went on to say that she now feels “like a better version of myself” and that the final decision to have plastic surgery could be viewed as “a health decision and a self-care decision.”
While Sunny Hostin initially thought she would “feel shame, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m doing plastic surgery like all these crazy celebrities.’ But I don’t feel shame at all. And I hope sharing my story will help more people. If they’re feeling so body-conscious, the way I was – they can do what they need to do to feel better.”
At the end of the day, Hostin said she feels “great” and is “so happy” with her new look. She even joked that she currently “prance[s} around nude all the time” at her home. Hostin also added, “I don’t know, you may see me naked on The View!”
When discussing her plastic surgery procedures with the public, Sunny Hostin admitted that she had liposuction and breast reduction surgery.
Liposuction is performed to eliminate stubborn and hard to remove fat from the body. It is a not a weight loss procedure which is a common misconception for some patients. The doctor will create small incisions in the targeted area of the body in order to insert a cannula into the section of the body that is being treated. The cannula is used to break up the targeted fat as well as remove it from the body. The fat cells that are removed are permanently destroyed and taken out of the body so the patient does not have to worry about the fat returning to the treated area.
Women with breasts that are overly large or heavy often turn to breast reduction surgery in order to remove skin, fat, and tissue so the breasts will become smaller in size. The removal of the fat, skin, and tissue also helps to relieve any pain or discomfort that is felt on a consistent basis in the back, neck, or shoulders. The results from breast reduction surgery can be considered to be long-lasting. Patients who decide to have breast reduction surgery need to be aware of the fact they will need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and consistent weight as the breasts can become bigger in size as the result of a significant weight gain.
