Simon Cowell recently made a confession about his face in one of the odder venues he could have picked for the revelation – The Nickelodeon 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards. Cowell told the press he had been receiving Botox injections and fillers but that he was done having the treatments. He described his recent results as making him look “like something out of a horror film.”
The current judge for “America’s Got Talent” told the media “There was a phase where everyone was having their faces pumped full of this and the other.” Even though many people were having cosmetic treatments to turn back the clock on their facial appearance, Cowell hit a point where he came to the realization the tweaks to his face had gotten out of hand.
“There was a stage where I might have gone a bit too far. I saw a picture of me from ‘before’ the other day and didn’t recognize it as me first of all.” Cowell went on to admit that his 8-year-old son was “in hysterics” about the appearance of his face when it was overly filled.
“Enough was enough. There is no filler in my face at all now. Zero.”
Over the past several years, Cowell has been open about some of his attempts to maintain a youthful look. He has undergone Botox, a sheep placenta facial and being wrapped in cling film and tin foil after he was covered in oils. He also had a facelift that involved tugging a thread, infused with bio-plastics, sewn into his skin in order to reduce the look of sagging skin. He also had veneers placed in his mouth to give his mouth a younger and healthier look.
As for his current attempts at keeping his skin healthy and youthful, he claims to be counting on increasing his intake of water and relying on eating better.
“The only good thing of getting older is you have a lot of experience and it’s not always about the things you did well – it’s also about the things you didn’t. Hopefully I look better now – I probably did have a little too much Botox a couple of years ago.”
One of the main reasons the public wants to have fillers placed in the face is to lessen the look of fine lines while also restoring volume that has been lost due to the aging process.
In general, fillers work to lessen the appearance of creases that have appeared on the face. They also give the face a look that is fuller as it restores volume that disappeared as a person continued to age.
Fillers are made of a number of substances and they include hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a substance in the skin that naturally occurs in the human body and also calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) which also naturally occurs in the body and it is mainly found in the bones. There is also a synthetic substance called Poly-L-lactic acid which is a biodegradable substance that works to stimulate the growth of collagen to smooth the appearance of fine lines. Any of these filler treatment options can be injected into the targeted area on the body to provide the final results desired by the patient.
The ideal candidates for fillers are patients with fold or wrinkles on the face that can be classified as either moderate or severe in appearance. In addition, fillers can treat conditions on the face such as fine lines around the mouth, a loss of volume in the cheeks and lips that have become thin as a person ages. Filler candidates need to know that the results are not permanent and repeat procedures will need to be performed in order to maintain the appearance gained by having fillers. The length of the results depends on the type of filler used as well as the amount of filler injected into the body. Overall, the results can last anywhere from six to twelve to eighteen months.
Once the fillers have been injected into the body, there will be some bruising, swelling and redness that will be visible in the treated area. The results will start to be seen almost immediately after the treatment, but it will still take a few weeks before the final results are visible.
Anyone interested in receiving fillers should schedule a consultation appointment with a doctor who is experienced in performing the treatment and providing results that look natural in appearance. The doctor will examine the skin of the patient to determine the type of results that can be expected from the treatment. The doctor will also set realistic expectations so the person will know what to expect from the treatment. Once the doctor and the patient are on the same page when it comes to procedure expectations, the fillers treatment can be scheduled.
