Why was an Instagram Model left Partially Blind after Cosmetic Eye Surgery?

An Instagram model who wanted to change the color of her eyes says she now has the sight of a 90-year-old after the treatment went wrong.

Nadinne Bruna, 32, has 80\\% of the vision in her right eye and 50\\% in her left eye after surgery to insert silicone implants to change their color. The procedure is not approved in the United States so she flew to Bogota, Colombia to change her hazel eyes to a light grey color.in September 2016.

She immediately began experiencing serious problems. Bruna claims her vision was constantly blurry as a result of the pressure placed on her optic nerve by the implant and her eyes were red and painful for months. She returned to Colombia in March and June of 2017 for two further procedures to repair the damage. However, she was forced to seek medical attention at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Ophthalmologist Dr. Ranya Habash led a team of medics to remove the dangerous implants in September and Bruna underwent emergency sight-saving surgery to treat glaucoma in November.

Bruna, and her twin sister Danna, have forged a career on Instagram where they share images of cosmetic procedures they have undergone such as butt augmentation. Bruna said she paid a discounted fee of $3000 to undergo the procedures with Dr. Eugenio Carbera in return for a post on her social media account and a testimonial video.

Bruna says her eyes were completely healthy before the surgery. Ever since the surgery, she has had blurry vision and her pupils can’t adjust to light anymore.
