Vagina Facial - Learn why it is perforemd

Posted September 02, 2015

It is a fact that women love to pamper themselves.  From manicures to massages, women like to take the time to relax, unwind and get rid of the stress in their lives.  Pampering their bodies includes paying attention to all parts of their anatomy.  Breast augmentation, BBL and a facelift are just a few of the cosmetic surgery procedures that seem to get the most press when it comes to extra care and pampering. However, one of the hottest trends involves pampering the vagina area with a technique known as a vagina facial. Also known as a “vagacial”, the vagina facial is the latest way to pamper, refresh and rejuvenate the vagina. While vaginal dryness can happen at any age, it tends to be more of a problem for women during menopause as well as after menopause. In the past, many women have elected to have plastic surgery procedures to rejuvenate their vaginal area.  Some of the plastic surgery procedures that have been popular choices in the past include labiaplasty (to change the shape as well as the size of the labia) and vaginoplasty (to tighten the vaginal area after any looseness that occurred due to the aging process or childbirth).

Origin of the Vagacial

A British woman named Lisa Palmer is credited with the invention of the vagacial. When the 41-year-old noticed that her nether region was getting a bit wrinkled, she felt it ruined her youthful appearance. She whipped up a concoction of egg whites and skin-softening vitamins which apparently gave her labia the supple smoothness of a 25-year-old.

Vagacial Performed at Home

The Vagacial procedure is used by women across the country as a non-surgical option for combating the effects of aging on the vaginal area.  While the procedure is currently offered at spas across the country, there is also a version of the vagina facial that can be performed in the comfort of your own home.

The DIY home version of the Vagacial, created by Lisa Palmer, involves steaming the area and applying a mixture of vitamin E cream, honey, coconut oil and egg white to the vulva area. Palmer claims the procedure will not only give a woman the vagina of a woman in her mid-20s but it also helps to counteract the effects of aging on the area.  Growing older causes the vagina to become tighter due to a loss of elasticity and an increase in vaginal dryness.

Palmer’s instructions for performing the procedure at home includes mixing together a teaspoon of coconut oil, one teaspoon of vitamin E cream, a teaspoon of honey and one egg white. Mix them together and then heat the mixture in a microwave for about 20-seconds. The mixture is then applied to the vagina (following vaginal steam or waxing) and left on the area for 15 minutes.  The mixture is then easily removed using rose water.  To achieve optimum results, Palmer suggests performing the procedure for seven days in a row.  After the initial seven day period, the number of procedures can be lessened to once or twice per week.

(It’s important to note that Palmer’s “home remedy” is her own creation and has not been approved by any medical professionals.  The staff of Cosmetic Town News advises you to follow Palmer’s DIY instructions at your own risk.)

Vagacial Performed at a Spa

If you prefer to have a vagacial performed in a professional business environment, there are plenty of spas across the United States offering the procedure.  The version of the procedure in a spa typically involves the cleaning of the area around the vagina including the removal of ingrown hairs, exfoliation and an application of antibacterial body wash and lightening creams.  The typical cost for a Vagacial procedure runs anywhere from $50-$70 and the cost depends on where you have the procedure performed.

Whether you decide to have the Vagacial performed at a spa, or in the comfort of your own home, the benefits to the area are the same.  The procedure helps to fight the drying and tightening of the vagina that happens as women age. It also helps to improve the self-esteem of the person undergoing the procedure. So next time you’re considering some “me time” that involves pampering and TLC, consider the Vagacial procedure as a way to give some extra attention to your private parts.

Reasons to Take Care of Your Vagina

There are a lot of reasons why your vagina deserves your attention and care:

  • To prevent the discharge of thick fluids - The vagina is a very sensitive part of the body and it sometimes discharges fluids. Clear discharge is one thing but please see a doctor if it seems to be a little too chunky. As women's health expert Dr. Amir Marashi says, "Some [discharges] are normal, but if you feel itchy or see cottage cheese, it could be a sign of a yeast infection and that your pH balance is off." A yeast infection could be a result of irritation caused by douching, wearing too-tight clothing or a poor diet.
  • To prevent a foul smell down there - If not properly taken care of, the vagina can have a nasty and smelly odor. A very common cause of foul odor of the vagina is bacterial vaginosis and this condition is a sign that you need to take vagina health more seriously before it impacts your overall health.
  • To prevent dryness
  • To prevent painful sexual experience
  • To prevent embarrassment
