Asian Skin: What's the Secret?

Postby GeorgeGoyer on Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:57 pm

I noticed Vietnamese, Koreans, Chinese, and other Asians age really well, especially the ones who don’t drink or smoke. Much more so than white people. I’m envious of them.

Why is it that they age well compared to us white folks? I guess all races have their physical advantages, though, right? Whites can grow to be quite tall. Latin women have curvaceous bodies (I’m jealous again! =P). Asians don’t have much body hair.

Does anybody know much about these different physical characteristics? I’m mostly interested in youthful Asian skin and how I can get it (without going under the knife or getting an injection every other month).

Good questions,

I am getting similar questions from my patients on hair quality and skin healthiness regularly. The truth of matter is that secrete of most those characteristic features are into our gene. People wonder it might have to do with the whether or diet in a particular geographic area but in most cases it is your genes that dictate what hair loss pattern you are going to have and how soon you have to start fighting your facial wrinkles.

I wish the answer was quick and sweet like, yes, change your diet and your skin will be fine. We do not have the technology to change the gene of that kind of traits, but that might be available in the future with gene therapy techniques.
