TCA Peel

A TCA Peel, AKA a trichloroacetic acid peel improves the look of the skin impacted by aging or sun damage. TCA peels remove the top layer of the skin that is damaged. Superficial peels remove the outermost layer of the skin and are safe for all skin types. Medium peels are a bit more aggressive and treat moderate wrinkles, sun damage and skin discoloration. A deep peel penetrates the middle layers of the skin to treat deep wrinkles, shallow scars and age spots.

Ideal candidates for a TCA peel include anyone looking to rejuvenate the look of the neck, face, chest, legs, arms or hands. These patients want to rejuvenate the skin or eliminate the appearance of age spots, scars, skin that sags and melasma. Ideal candidates have fair skin and light hair.

The cost of a TCA peel depends on the type/depth of the peel performed, the area of the body that is treated and the area of the country where it is performed. On average, the cost ranges form $150-$900. In addition, superficial and medium peels can be performed in a doctor’s office while a deep peel has to be performed in a surgical facility so the cost of a deep peel is higher.

The results vary by the type of peel performed and the condition of the patient’s skin before the peel. Superficial peel results take a week to become visible and last about a month. Medium peels take 7-14 days to become visible and need to be repeated one or two times per year. A deep peel takes 4-6 weeks for the results to be visible and it is usually not repeated.
