Derma Roller

Derma Roller is a hand-held device that has a roller with hundreds of tiny micro-needles attached to it to clean and enhance the skin. The procedure begins with the disinfection of the Derma Roller by letting it soak in 70% isopropyl alcohol for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Next, the face is split into sections to make the rolling process easier. The Derma Roller is rolled across the different sections of the face vertically and horizontally for 10-20 minutes. The face is then rinsed with water and the Derma Roller is cleaned and disinfected.

Ideal candidates have visible signs of aging, scars, facial lines, wrinkles, sun damage and acne. The best candidates are patients who are twenty years or older and have realistic expectations regarding the procedure. Patients with a history of facial scarring, skin infections, bleeding disorders or diabetes are not ideal candidates for the procedure.

The cost for a Derma Roller procedure ranges from $300-$800 per session. The final cost depends on fees charged by the doctor or the facility, the surgeon’s level of expertise and the geographic location of the procedure.

The procedure rejuvenates the skin, and restores radiance. Generally, 2-7 days are required for recovery. After the procedure, the face will be red for a couple of hours. There could also be slight peeling, swelling and bruising which will all subside in a few days. Aggressive skin care products, excessive exposure to sunlight, hot showers or saunas should be avoided. The treatment can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to show results. The final results can last for 8-12 months and then touch-up treatments might be needed.
